Mathieu Simard first entered the field of disability in a clinical context, obtaining a BSc in Kinesiology and a BSc in Physiotherapy. He also had multiple first-hand encounters and experiences.

He has been working in different positions, ranging from clinical service provision to providing teachings and trainings in various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and universities in Canada and abroad. He actively pursues teaching at UQAC, Laval and McGill Universities, in topics ranging from global health issues to exercise prescription for complex clienteles with multicomorbidities.
He now chairs RI Rehabilitation International’s Task Force on Disability, Armed Conflict, and Natural Disasters, while also assuming the position of Deputy-Vice President North America for RI.
Being a PhD candidate in Rehabilitation Sciences at McGill University, he actively pursues his work at the intersection of academic, clinical, and civil society in promoting and establishing collaborations in North America and abroad so as to advance inclusion at field and policy level.
