Our new scoping review analyzed 92 academic and grey literature sources to understand how humanitarian actors are integrating climate change into their programming and operations.
We found a sector in transition:
➡️ Climate change is increasingly recognized, but not yet fully integrated
➡️ Tensions persist between short-term emergency mandates and long-term climate action
➡️ Promising shifts are emerging around resilience-building and local collaboration
➡️ Major challenges remain, especially around financing, scale, and implementation
Humanitarian organizations will need to continue to grapple with how their structures, operations, and scope of responsibilities need to shift in response to the unavoidable realities and long-term impacts of climate change.
